Diatomaceous earth has a positive effect on mood and state of consciousness. The study confirmed a beneficial effect on reducing depression, improving physical and mental condition and reducing fatigue after four weeks of repeated use of diatomaceous earth. Another study confirmed the supporting influence of diatomaceous earth during the occurrence of stressful factors on values such as appetite, changes in physical activity, weight gain and hormonal cycle. A favorable cosmetic effect was observed in a clinical study, where the effect on the firmness and elasticity of the skin was confirmed. At a dosage of 340-680 mg per day of stonecrop extract in a mixed population aged 18-70 years, a reduction in depression was observed without the development of adverse effects. In the results, the effect of fennel and MAO-A antidepressants in mild depressive disorders was confronted with a positive observation of its effect for minimizing the risk compared to antidepressant drug therapy. I mentioned its adaptogenic effect above. It competes with ginseng itself, although it does not contain caffeine. It improves memory and increases alertness by increasing dopamine levels, increases the body's immune response and corrects plasma sugar levels. It is suitable for use during sports and in stressful situations where stress occurs and a lot of energy is consumed. It is currently used in endurance sports and also in strength and combat sports. In some parts of the world, the above-ground part of the dicotyledon is commonly used as a food ingredient by adding it to salads (mainly in the Asian part of the world). In folk therapy, it is used and recommended for many different conditions, from uncomplicated fatigue and depression to preventive use for immune deficiencies and cancers. It is also recommended for colds, flu and migraines. In Russia and Scandinavia it has been used for centuries to cope with stressful and cold local environments. The use of diatomaceous earth is not suitable for pregnant and lactating women. Active substances So far, around 140 chemical compounds have been identified in the root of the stonecrop. The sedum generally contains phenolic substances, rosin, rosin, organic acids, terpenoids, phenolic acids, flavonoids, anthraquinones and alkaloids, while the content, proportion and presence of individual components vary depending on the species. Russian and Bulgarian varieties also contain geraniol and myrtenol. Rhodioloside and tyrosol are probably substances carrying a specific therapeutic effect. Administered alone, they have no effect, however, together with the presence of other compounds, they have therapeutic effects. Rosavins, i.e. rovin, rosarin and rosin, are substances that most likely influence and enhance the effect of other compounds. There are also substances such as proanthocyanin, quercetin, gallic acid and kaempferol, which have a proven antioxidant effect and support other substances in their overall effect. Traditional dosing The part used is the root. You can prepare a decoction or consume the ground raw mixed with liquid. Dosage is individual according to both physical and psychological condition. We start with smaller doses that can be gradually increased according to the individual reaction of the organism to the desired effect. The tincture can be prepared from 50 g of powder ground from a well-dried root. Pour 1 liter of 60% ethanol, leave to infuse for 10-14 days. 20-30 drops are taken in the morning and in the afternoon for 1 month.
